Creating a variant involves defining and configuring variations within a product family. Here are the general steps to create a family variant in the PIM:

  1. Access the Family section of the PIM settings.

  2. Locate and select the specific product family for which you want to create a variant.

  3. Within the product family details, find the "Variants" tab at the top and click on it.

  4. Click on the "Add Variant" button to initiate the variant creation process.

  5. In the variant creation interface, you will typically encounter the following steps:
    a. "Code": Enter a unique code that will be used to identify the variant. This code should be concise and descriptive.
    b. "Axes": Define the axes or attributes that contribute to the variation within the product family. These attributes are used to differentiate the variants. For example, in a clothing product family, the attributes could be size, color, and fabric.
    c. "Add Variant": Once you have defined the variant options and configured any necessary details, add the variant to the product family, making it available for use.
    d. "Edit Variant": If you need to make changes to an existing variant, locate and select the variant you want to edit from the list of variants within the product family. This will allow you to modify its attributes or other relevant details.
    e. "Common Attributes" and "Variant Attributes": These refer to the attributes associated with product models (common attributes) and product variants (variant attributes). Depending on your PIM, you may be able to move attributes between these categories to determine which attributes are common to all products in the family and which are specific to variants.

  6. Save the changes: Once you have made the necessary modifications to the variant, save the changes to update the variant configuration within the product family.

  7. Delete variant: Click on the "Delete" button, located on the bottom left of the variant details.

  8. A confirmation prompt or dialogue box may appear, notifying you that the variant will be permanently deleted and any associated data will be removed. Carefully review this information.

  9. Confirm the deletion by clicking "Yes, Delete" on the confirmation prompt.

  10. The variant will be deleted from the PIM, and any data associated with it will be permanently removed.

Remember to carefully review any dependencies and update the relevant product models or variants before attempting to delete a variant. This will help maintain data integrity and ensure a smooth deletion process.
